Lanai

Construction defects associated with lanais are numerous and can result in water intrusion causing damage to the interior and exterior of the building. Defects can also create an environment conducive to the growth of unhealthful molds and dry rot. Below is a list of the most common defects:

  • Failure to properly slope the lanai away from building
  • Failure to properly waterproof lanai and deck members
  • Failure to properly install and/or seal lanai drains
  • Failure to back prime wood members
  • Improper connection of lanai to building
  • Improper sheet metal flashing
